Mising Items from Ventura race for SBOCC

Missing Equipment from the Ventura Race:

SCORA Paddlers and Clubs:

SBOCC has some club equipment that has gone missing. We are looking for our white buckle straps used to tie down the iakos to the waes for races. Last seen, they were collected out of the various canoes after derigging from the Venturarace and placed on one of the canoe seats ready to be put away in the rigging bags. From there, we don't know what happened to them. If anyone found a rigging bag full of buckle straps (white webbing with silver buckles) ...<< MORE >>

UPDATE - PDF version of order form on the SCORA homepage, check it out in the box on the left just below the registration button.

Hi All, OK, trying this again (and again).  The first order form was kind of blank.  Many people couldn't see the picture and it was definitely not meant to be an interactive order form.  It’s just my attempt at putting all the info, pictures and all, into one place for your easy reference.  Thanks so much for those of you who already ordered, even though it was confusing.  So here’s the second attempt.

  • If you already ordered and you don’t need shorts, you’re set.  (Most of NorCal has ordered hats and shirts.)
  • If you already ordered and you also want shorts, drop me an email and I’ll add it to your previous order.
  • If your club ordered for you, still ok to add shorts.
  • If you haven’t ordered yet, please do!  Would love to have all orders done with by the end of the weekend.
  • SOUTHERN CAL, almost nobody has ordered, though some club orders may be in the works.  Please forward this email around until your entire team has it.
Lolo, please forward to the SCORA list.

Most questions shold now be answered between the email and the attachment.  It’s just Word, and won’t really do as a true order form.  Please just email back using it as a reference.

Payment:  You may pay by cash or check at Sacramento regattas on the 19th (preferable) or 26th.  I’ll have a little table going at the SFOCC tent.
  Checks should be made to NCOCA.  You may also mail checks to 363 Catherine Drive, South San Francisco, CA  94080

You may pay via Pay Pal (ncoca_treas@yahoo.com) (underscore not a space after ncoca).  An additional 3% fee applies for Pay Pal transactions but it allows you to use a credit card!  Notes from Linda:  You can create a user name on PayPal using your email address.  You can use your checking account or a credit card to send money to another pay pal account  ncoca_treas@yahoo.com
Paypal will only send between verified accounts within their system.

The person receiving the funds will receive an email that the funds are on their way and will receive another when the payment is confirmed.

Memorial Day Weekend

Hey Sports Fans!
We got a nice long weekend ahead of us.
This weekend typically= marks the beginning of "summer" for most everyone else who goes = to the beaches and bays and ocean.
We've been out there y= ear-round non-stop, as if there was a break in the paddling world, right? B= ut we don't "own" rights to the waterways.
In any case, this mess= age is to remind you that the couch potatoes will be out enforce.
Be aware of them as th= ey will not be looking (out) for you.
They throw down a few = beers, sit out in the sun and then decide they want to jump on that jetski,= wave runner, motorboat.
And then we have the m= akings of a potential disaster. It' s like the scene in "Jaws", r= emember? when everyone wanted to hunt for the shark, and boats were over-lo= aded, and banging into each other, drivers were drinnking.. ay-yi-yi!
Don’t let yourse= lves get caught up in that. Just a few simple reminders of what some or all= of you are already doing?
  • plan your workouts when= it is least likely to be dangerous and crowded;
  • don’t go out alone;
  • If you must go alone-leave a float p= lan at your vehicle (and follow the plan that you left behind!);
  • bring a cell phone with you-= (add the lifeguard number to your favorites), or bring a vhf radio;
  • <= li>if you have to use your = mp3 player - plug in one ear only- or keep the volume low so you can remain= audibly aware of your surroundings.
Play safe folks! You c= an enjoy the weekends to come if you play safe this weekend.
Cuz, we're looking for= ward to seeing EVERYONE at the Kahanamoku Klassic on the 31st.

New SCORA OFFICERS

It is my pleasure to introduce the recently elected President of SCORA - Jeff Kiesel. Jeff was elected to the position at a special meeting on Saturday in San Diego. Jeff comes to the role with 2 years previous presidential experience. He is a paddler with the Long Beach team Kahakai Outrigger. Along with his acceptance of the position,  he appointed Windy Foster as our new Corporate Secretary. Windy also has 2 years of previous experience as secretary with our association. We are fortunate to have them back at the helm at this time. Vered Yakovee has been reappointed as VP Insurance and Risk Management. Chris Hill remains as our VP of Paddler Development and Mike Roberts as Treasurer.
The Officers are available to field any questions and concerns regarding SCORA's administrative responsibilites. As your Race Chair, I am, as always, available to field any concerns regarding racing. A more formal update to the webpage will be forthcoming.
